Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences held an International Tropical Summer Course (ITroSCo) for international students on July 29 – August 7, 2019.

The opening ceremony was held on July 30, 2019 by the Vice Chancellor for Communication and Business. The program is characterized by administering to the participants attribute Diponegoro University cap. The activities aim to increase the number of international students and introduce students from partner universities to learn about fisheries and marine conservation, especially on coastal ecology and learn about coastal biota in Semarang and Pulau Karimun. In addition, the program also aims to study the traditional Indonesian heritage such as the batik making process and study the cultural heritage of the Netherlands and China in the city of Semarang by visiting some of the historic sites in the city of Semarang, as Lawang Sewu, the Old Town, Sam Poo Kong Temple, Avalokiteswara Vihara. The program was attended by 15 participants from 6 countries including the United States, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Sweden and Japan.

Visit to one of the centers Batik Semarang. Participants see and be directly involved in making batik.

By following these events, we learn about the fisheries and marine as well as the cultures that exist in Indonesia. We were delighted and hopefully can return to Indonesia one day
